Service Description: The State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is a list of transportation projects the State of Rhode Island intends to implement using United States Department of Transportation funds, as well as State and other funding sources. For a transportation project to utilize federal funds it must be included in the STIP. The STIP is the product of extensive data analysis coupled with a significant outreach effort to communities, public interest groups, and citizens throughout the state. The current STIP is a ten-year program (Federal Fiscal Years 2018-2027) that includes more than 1,000 bridge, pavement, transit, bicycle, and other types of projects. The first four years of the STIP are fiscally-constrained as required by federal regulations.
